Once on the island we drove all around, but did not see much to warrant the journey, to be honest. Not one animal despite being told there were caribou everywhere, and no life in the ocean at all either. The towns may have had lots to offer, but we did not check out any of the galleries that the island is known for. Perhaps others would have been thrilled, but we only stopped for a tour of a fishing museum that was being given by a young woman. She was very good, taught us quite a bit about the equipment and techniques they used. The coolest thing we saw was a new hotel complex that had recently opened up, built apparently by a local woman who had done very well financially and was returning some of her money to local interests. It looked so out of place, and with no signage as to what it was, we were imagining all sorts of things the building was for.....
We ended up coming back on an early ferry at 1345, not wanting to take the chance of missing the last ferry and spending a night in the truck in the parking lot! Once back at the campsite the guys went for a walk along the shore, getting Devon's shoes and clothes completely covered in muck, while I had a much needed nap, having slept poorly for too many nights. (200 km)
