July 7-Departure Date-here we go!

July 7, 2013

Got an early start, left about 5:30 a.m.  Highway 401 through Ontario, into Quebec where we turned south east from Montreal to cross the border via HWY 55 into Vermont and Hwy 91.  Turned east onto route 2, a secondary road which was scenic but slow.  We were into the mountains as soon as we turned south in Quebec, and they got bigger and better for the rest of the day.  We stopped for the night in Shelburne New Hampshire, at White Birches Camping Park, good for big rigs, big level pull through sites.  As we had gone about 850 kms that first day, all we wanted was to move around a bit, so we splashed in their pool and hit the sack.
(871 kms, 9 1/2 hours driving)
